An Environment for
Growth & Success
Natchez Trace Youth Academy is a highly-structured 115-bed residential treatment center for young men ages 11 to 17. Our residential treatment programs are designed to help court-ordered youth, aggressive youth, and youth who have failed other residential treatment settings. Our 120-acre campus provides youth with an environment to focus on behavior change, personal growth, and trust-building. In addition to offering cognitive behavioral therapy interventions, we provide educational and recreational opportunities to our students, giving them the chance to put their growth and learnings into actions that give them joy and provide them with skills they can utilize after treatment is complete.
OUR PROGRAMMING
Throughout our programming, our treatment team discusses each student’s demonstrated progress in the program every week. Each student’s Individual Program Plan is reviewed monthly for optimization, ensuring each student is getting the care and opportunities they need. Students, families and any referring agency meet quarterly to review progress, make necessary adjustments, and make discharge plans for when the students complete their program. Students and parents can also expect the following features from our programs:
Care Management: Trained direct care staff are on duty 24 hours per day, with a 1:5 student to staff member ratio. Staff is trained in de-escalation, supervision, crisis management and intervention, and more.
Medication Management: Our psychiatric nurse practitioners (PNPs), supervised by a head psychiatrist, visit the campus once per week to evaluate students. The PNPs interviews the students and the nursing, clinical, and direct care staff to determine if the medication is making a positive difference and or causing adverse side effects.
Mobilization of Family Support: Due to the out-of-state status of the families, the assigned clinician works with the designated agency worker to identify any resources that may aid the family with continuing care after a student is discharged. We’ll do our best to make sure young men are going back out into environments that support continued growth.
